Kansas City, MO is a place with a lot of history. It can lay claim to being one of the incubators of Jazz music and even its own style of American BBQ. Buying a home in these neighborhoods immediately places you within a place that has a true sense of community. Still, with younger adults and new families choosing to make these Kansas City neighborhoods home, KC has quite a future ahead of it!

If you are looking for a suburban life in the heart of America, Kansas City neighborhoods should be at or near the top of your list. Below are the top Kansas City, Missouri Neighborhoods:

Westport

Even before Kansas City existed, Westport was a place wagons headed west would stop to get loaded up and ready for the journey. Three major western wagon trains passed through this town (Santa Fe, California, and Oregon). Today, Westport is a top night life city featuring all things trendy!
You will have no shortage of bars and restaurants catering to young adults in this town. You will find Westport located north of the Country Club Plaza. Here you will find mostly older architecture juxtaposed with all the modern entertainment options Kansas City has to offer. This is a largely single population in their early to mid-30s, so it is a perfect place to go to meet someone!

Westside

Why do people love living in Westside, MO? Well, Cottage Living magazine considers it to be one of the top ten American neighborhoods in 2008. It is home to one of the most vibrant Mexican-American communities in the mid-west (the food is to die for). Also, the architecture is as diverse as its population. Both vintage style homes and ultra-modern designs coexist in this neighborhood.

This is a very young neighborhood. The median age range for Westside residents is somewhere between late 20s and early 30s. An eclectic urban life coupled with affordability is what is attracting these people.

River Market

In the past, River Market was known as the City Market, River Quay, and even Westport Landing. Today it has the largest farmer’s market in the mid-west and has become one of the most popular neighborhoods among young Missouri’s young professionals. This is a truly walkable town – practically everything you need for daily life is within walking distance. The neighborhood has retained some of its ethnic charm from the Italian immigrant community located in the Columbus Park area.

Brookside

Brookside can stake the claim to having the very first suburban shopping center in Missouri. A highly educated population, approximately 75% of all Brooksiders have at least a 4-year college degree. With a population of only eleven thousand people, Brookside has a small town charm through and through. Though it does have an entertaining nightlife, it is less focused on the trendy and more on being inviting. Brookside bars are where everybody knows your name!

So there really is something there for everyone. Kansas City neighborhoods offer a mix of urban and suburban environments that allow you to assemble the kind of life younger prospective home buyers crave. Trendy or traditional, Kansas City has it all.
